Our modifications typically fall into three areas. The following are some of the more common services Comfortably Home offers, and we are not limited to these. A participant and their health care providers might recommend something not seen on this list.
Safety Checks
Installing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors with 10-year batteries.
Cleaning hazardous dryer vents
Replacing out-of-reach light bulbs
Changing furnace filters to reduce fire risk and help with air quality and power costs
Installing large reflective numbers on the home for emergency responders
Installing wireless fuel monitors so that you can read your furnace’s fuel gauge from a safe place
Installing safety devices on stoves that respond to alarms
Accessibility Modifications
Raising or lowering a work surface
Using contrasting colors on step edges, toilets, doors, and railings for those with vision challenges or dementia
Adding handrails to stairways
Installing grab bars, shower wands, raised toilet seats, non-slip materials and shower seats to reduce the risk of falls
Changing round doorknobs to levers for easier gripping
Minor Repairs
Minor flooring repairs, such as smoothing out threshold transitions to reduce tripping hazards
Repairing indoor/outdoor railings or stairs
Installing storm doors or providing other winterizing to reduce energy costs
Building indoor or outdoor entryway shelves so that items can be safely set down to reduce the risks of falls
Cleaning refrigerator coils to keep the refrigerator running longer and power bills lower
